The individual in this part-time position is responsible for creating and implementing church-wide communication for First Presbyterian Church.
This individual will work with the minister, church staff, and committee chairs to develop a communications strategy that both supports the internal coordination of church staff and volunteers, and represents the life of the church to the broader community.
The Communications Coordinator will oversee publications such as the weekly bulletin, e-newsletters, online calendar, brochures, and social media posts, which will highlight the events and activities of our church life.
Job Description:
Compile and create internal and external communications that will lead members and others to participate in the life of the church for the transformation of the world.
Possess strong writing skills and have experience with social media, electronic platforms, and graphic design.
Oversee communications that go from the church to its members and to the community, including print and electronic newsletters, bulletins, brochures, website, Facebook/Instagram, and videos.
Support church initiatives (such as A Gracious Christmas, Music with a Mission), as needed.
Develop contacts in the community and within the denomination in order to promote church-related events and programs.
Coordinate volunteer teams to livestream the Sunday worship services, and teams to photograph and document church events.
Produce video resources for internal and external ministry and outreach, as needed.
Work with the preschool director to develop and maintain communication with parents.
Lead the way in communications using new media technologies.
Work closely with the Communications Committee and report directly to the minister/head of staff.
Key
Responsibilities:
Provide design and production for church digital and printed communications to include, but not limited to, a weekly Sunday bulletin, monthly e-newsletter, email communications, digital message boards, regular updates to the church website and church social media platforms.
Develop strategy and vision to promote effective communication using feedback from ministers, staff, and church leadership.
Develop a variety of communication methods to ensure everyone, of all technology backgrounds, can feel connected to the church.
Coordinate the church's worship service broadcast (livestream) and coordinate maintenance and improvements to the audio/visual capabilities of the worship service, session meetings and other events.
Oversee the church website, ensuring that all areas are updated in a timely manner Manage the Church's social media presence for church members and the community at large (Facebook and Instagram).
