As part of Weyerhaeuser's Cellulose Fibers business, the Port Wentworth mill produces pulp for paper and absorbent products. We are located 20 minutes from historic (and growing) Savannah, GA. With easy access to multiple beaches, excellent school systems and a vibrant cultural community, Savannah provides opportunities for the entire family.
As one of the largest Softwood pulp producers in the world, this segment produces approximately 2.8 million metric tons of fiber annually for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals and photographic-based papers. Weyerhaeuser's cellulose fiber manufacturing facilities are located across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This position is responsible for:
Key operations interface between Maintenance & Operations.
Member of area business team.
Role models leadership behaviors consistent with our site principles.
Key member for ensuring delivery of yearly/monthly area availability targets.
Ensures safety work orders are key priorities in work scheduling.
Ensures key learning's are communicated among all team members.
Own and develop a Process Improvement Team (PIT).
Manage operating boundaries and adherence.
Coach, provide feedback, and lead daily safety discussions with crew.
Owner of the notification backlog (prioritization and maintaining).
Responsible for authorizing operation break-in into weekly maintenance plan.
Coordinates and develops work plans for area shutdowns, leads debrief.
Responsible for Management of Changes (MOC) and Temporary Operating Instructions (TOI's) in area of responsibility.
Lead and resolve chronic area troubleshooting as assigned by Superintendent.
Supervises, coaches, and assigns area operators during planned shutdowns.
Relief for operation and maintenance supervision as required.
Acts as a change agent for area/unit/site improvement efforts.
Role models use of Weyerhaeuser resources and networking best in class facilities.
Execute yearly basic care plan.
Develop checklist and tools for shift troubleshooting.
Implement 94% uptime tactic, bale line tactic, and dryer break reduction tactic.
Closing the loop with issues (making sure maintenance is following up completely).
Establish mentee relationship with successful area coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position:
BS Engineering degree; or equivalent experience in pulp mill machine room leadership.
Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment and Weyerhaeuser procedures.
Basic knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience leading a team to achieve excellent results.
Ability to generate commitment and motivate employees toward a common goal.
Strong communication skills: written, oral and listening.
Ability to track/measure performance utilizing standard methods/tools.
Good planning and organizing ability.
Ability to problem-solve and engage employees in a team environment.
Basic understanding of business and financial concepts.
Basic understanding of labor and employee relations.
Solid computer skills.
